Not gonna embroider this

Man, I will NEVER finish this costume if I embroider everything; its totally out of the question until I get an embroidery machine.  No more changing my mind on this issue

PULLS HAIR OUT

Hand embroidery... why are you so frustrating??  Ugh this is seriously annoying, I need to save up for an embroidery machine

More sewing progress =D

Photobucket

Sewing progress so far. Ignore the nastiness on the bottom of the outside shirt since I will be removing all of that soon. That was originally supposed to be my "inside" vest, but I (obviously) remade it. I just have to figure out what I am going to do with the embroidery now, especially on the collar.

Speaking of the collar, I am not sure I made it big enough. I shall have to ponder this more when I am less sleepy zzzzzzz...

Sewing

Pic under the cut )
Ugh, large blurry pic is large and blurry.

So, this is what I have been working on for the past few days and so far, everything is going well.  The white fabric is silk, so I am relieved that it is not a gross reflective mess like most silk cosplays are.

The collar isn't finished yet; I still have to sew in the rest of the red lining so I can sew that down and then sew down the edges of the collar (so it will look more like the sleeves.

Anime on Youtube

Oh internet revolution, how I love you.

Anyway, Youtube has a bunch of legitimate anime/tv shows up now.  Amongst these anime is Code Geass, which is all the better since I can now learn what all the hype is about without paying for anything... and I have something to watch and listen to as I sew =D

Piping

Well, for the past few days I have been busy sewing Ezio's middle shirt/vest (I need to think of official names for all these things >>).  So far I have the sleeves and the collar finished, which is not extraordinary aside from the fact that they alone took up two and a half yards of piping.  I bought six packages of white piping and six packages of off-white piping and I am REALLY hoping that its enough to finish the costume.  But by the looks of it, I might need a lot more D=

Pre-Leatherworking! =D

Photobucket

Woot!  I made a foamie mock-up of my ezio bracer today and I really like how it turned out.  Can't wait to make it out of actual leather =D

Note to self...

Use one thread to make everything more precise and use more for couching.

Beaded couching is a great way to cover up uneven satin stitches.

Piping piping everywhere

Wow, what is it with Ezio and piping?  I swear, every seam has piping on it - some even have two layers of piping O_o.  I'll probably go through 20 yards of this stuff by the time I am finished X_X.

Anyways, back to sewing - I wanna see how much of this I can get done before WWC since it would be cool if I could have it at a wearable state by then =D

Garbage Dump

I love how I use this journal as a massive dump for links that I won't use to help with Ezio *sigh*

http://www.pastpatterns.com/ This site would have been useful if they had patterns from around 1486...

http://medieval.webcon.net.au/index.html this site, however, is very useful =D.  Has examples of embroidery from many time periods and regions, including late 15th century Italy =D

Phoenix Stencil

Bird stencil - Finished.  Now I have to make the thing

Michelle convinced me that I should embroider everything instead of using the trim.  I was a bit concerned because the silk kept on wrinkling, but I am going to see if some interfacing will solve this problem.

Maybe embroidery isn't the way to go...

The more I look at trim, the more I want to use it instead of my embroidering

http://www.trimfabric.com/lt-4.html - LOVE this lace!  It's soooo pretty
http://www.trimfabric.com/lt-240.html - this one is cool, although totally useless for Ezio
http://www.trimfabric.com/ap-74.html - Might be interesting for the collar

Sweet Trim!

http://www.mjtrim.com/Catalog/Product/79/00508/00508.aspx <- This could be some sweet Ezio trim if complete accuracy isn't an issue, especially since it comes in both black and gold O_o

http://www.laceheaven.com/
This site also has some sweet trim.  Makes me want to not embroider any of this stuff and just buy trim for everything...

...nah, mind as well embroider it

Stencil Day - 2009

http://abrokenbullet.deviantart.com/art/Ezio-Trim-131096560

Wow, I am surprised that I actually pulled out my tablet and drew out a proper stencil!  Working on the larger bird design atm, should have that up soon.

Also, the site posted above makes custom printed ribbons (they sell lots of other trim/embellisment-type things as well).  I don't really plan on using these ribbons myself, but they are rather interesting...

Silk nomnom

Yesterday I went to Vogue, and splurged on the silks and wools that will constitute my Ezio costume.  Fabric status: complete

Now I just need to figure out what I am supposed to do with the embellishments and embroidering.  Should I custom embroider the designs on, or should I look for a trim that resembles the same pattern that he has...  Hmm
